Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform e-mail programme developed by the Mozilla Foundation. When, version 1.0 was released, it received over 500,000 downloads in its first three days of release, and 1,000,000 in 10 days.

Like Firefox, which Mozilla also developes, Thunderbird has lots more features than other well known email programmes, many of which come in the form of addons which you download separately. - (Read more)

Google has launched its own browser, Google Chrome. I haven't tried it myself yet or even heard many reports about it so we shall reserve opinion until more is known. In their own words
