If you've ever come across the Super Mario Brothers game from NIntendo, at least the earlier version then this game will seem very familiar to you. Again completely free. It has the added bonus of a great level editor / creator so you can soon be designing your very own levels for family members to try.

Another platform type game and again with level editor. In their own words "SuperTux is a classic 2D jump'n run sidescroller game in a style similar to the original SuperMario games. Super Tux Kart is a really nice little Cart racing game along the lines of Mario Cart and other such games. Nice smooth game play and an active forum togive you any help you need.
